At Both Ends of the Leash, we are dedicated to helping humans and their dogs build meaningful, supportive relationships.
We work with assistance dog handlers, individuals with disabilities, and pet dog owners to enhance communication, trust, and connection, using positive reinforcement, relationship-centred, and trauma-informed methods.
We focus equally on the human and the dog, understanding that both ends of the leash deserve respect, empathy, and coaching tailored to their unique needs.
About Us.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced subcontractor dog trainer/coach based in Brisbane, Ipswich and or the Gold Coast, who:
Has solid experience in positive reinforcement, relationship-centred training, and a deep respect for individuality for both canine and human.
Understands the importance of Human and Dog psychology. How both human and canine nervous systems, trauma histories, and learning patterns impact behaviour and connection.
Has experience working with clients with all disabilities, including those with complex trauma or emotional needs.
Is confident in reading dog body language and behaviour with sensitivity and depth.
Brings a strong commitment to coaching humans, Both ends of the Leash is not just training dogs. We work with the human and their dog through a non-judgmental, flexible, and supportive approach that avoids "one-size-fits-all" solutions.
Believes in adapting methods to support each participant and dog, rather than forcing them into rigid programs.
Holds an open-minded, collaborative attitude with a strong solution-focused mindset.
Requirements:
ABN (Australian Business Number) and current Insurance.
Willingness to be trained on the job, to keep an open mind when working with participants and their dogs.
Strong communication skills and a compassionate, empathetic approach.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Willingness to meet clients face-to-face in Brisbane, Ipswich, and the Gold Coast.
Current Blue Card & Yellow Card (or willingness to obtain).
The Process:
There will be an interview process, followed by a period of onsite training to ensure genuine alignment with the values, philosophy, and methods of Both Ends of the Leash.
This is an ongoing subcontractor arrangement. Successful trainers will receive continued mentorship, immediate access to client opportunities, and potential for career growth into senior coaching roles as skills and leadership are demonstrated.
