We understand that beginning the journey of training your own Assistance Dog can feel overwhelming.
There are often more questions than answers, and finding organisations or trainers with availability can be challenging.
To help bridge this gap, we now offer a one-off Zoom Information Session designed to provide clarity, education, and realistic expectations before embarking on an assistance dog journey.
What We Cover
During this session, we explore:
The role of an Assistance Dog
How dogs naturally communicate, learn, and respond to humans
Understanding behaviour as communication rather than disobedience
How assistance dog skills are developed through relationship, observation, and cooperation
The handler's role and responsibilities within the partnership
The lifelong commitment involved in working an Assistance Dog
Ethical and welfare considerations
Training with the end goal of Public Access in mind
General information regarding legislation, access rights, and handler responsibilities
The Purpose of This Session
This session is designed to help you:
Better understand how to work with your dog
Reflect on your readiness for the assistance dog journey
Make informed, realistic, and ethical decisions moving forward
What This Session Is Not
This is an educational session only and does not include:
Behaviour modification
Task training
Public Access training
Individual training plans
Ongoing support or follow-up services
This session is not intended to replace working with a qualified assistance dog trainer when and if that becomes appropriate.
